Elixir Announces SaaS
for Summary of Benefits and Coverage
OJAI, CA – May, 1 2012 – Elixir Technologies Corporation today announced the launch of its Software as a Service (SaaS) application for Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) to help health plan providers meet the September 2012 mandate for creation of a uniform SBC to help consumers better understand their coverage.
Tango’s SaaS subscription model enables health plans to become compliant immediately, reducing the burden on IT and administrative systems and provides the options of hosted or on-premise delivery.
Maintained Easily by any Department
Familiar business-standard interfaces organize complex data mapping and business rules management into easy, straightforward screens. Formulas, calculations, and data are locked down and protected from direct editing allowing a wide range of users to maintain the system.
Supports Complex Formatting Requirements
Elixir formats the SBC based on the mandated requirements. Business rules manage the formatting of each SBC. All content is on the correct page and at the precise location on the page regardless of which Plan is selected.
Versioning Capabilities for All Resources Used
SBC templates and the discrete elements used such as text, formulas, plan data and guidelines, are all managed as content resources. Each can be checked-in/out and versioned automatically as changes are made. PDF versions of the SBC can be stored in a document archive or generated dynamically from the appropriate data and template at any time.
Data Access and Association
SBCs require source data from multiple systems for example, National Accounts, Quoting Systems, Issued Plans, and Individual Plans. Elixir provides the technical bridge to these systems to extract and prepare the data for mapping to the SBC. Data is extracted from the required systems and mapped to the Elixir data schema. Business rules and calculations are applied to the data which in turn format the SBC.
Compliance Beyond the SBC
Compliance is a long-term initiative affecting most correspondence. The Tango platform used for the SBC application can be easily expanded to serve other document requirements and provides the same content management and compliance assurances.
