Elixir Integrates Job Definition Format (JDF)
Interaction with CREO Color Servers
in Opus Document Production Software
VENTURA, CA – March 1, 2008 – Elixir Technologies Corporation, a leading developer of software for creating and managing high-value documents of all types, today announced integration for Job Definition Format (JDF) support for CREO Color Servers into Elixir’s Opus document development software.
Opus, used for rapid development of custom formatted and personalized documents, supports 100% customization on a per-document basis. Support of JDF within Opus improves production turnarounds.
JDF acts as a bridge between the multiple steps, resources, tools, entities, and people, involved in today’s printing industry– transferring information, obtaining approvals, and delivering final work products. JDF streamlines the process and, thus, enables the exceptional quality and timely delivery of today’s print products.
The Opus and CREO Color Servers operate interactively via web administrative tools to track and manage the production process. The JDF supported in CREO Color Servers complies with the Interoperability Conformance Specifications (ICS) for digital printing level 1. The JDF provided by Opus informs CREO Color Servers re: such job ticket parameters as contact information, number of copies, and media information. In turn, CREO Color Servers pass on JDF information after job completion as per specific requests in the JDF file.
Advantages of Utilizing JDF with Opus:
- Improved Job Control
- Full job tracking
- Centralized points of management
- Cost Savings
- Reduction in operations needed
- Minimal workflow errors: Job programming is restricted, to reduce errors and reprinting needs
- Management – Production Integration
- More accurate cost estimation and billing
- Increased production visibility
- Enhanced Production
- Better planning through automated resource management and tracking
