Bring the power of AFP resource creation and editing to any
desktop!
-
No
pre-conversion of AFP resources and no coding/scripting
required
-
Edit
resources in native format, graphic interface
-
Generate Page
Definitions and Form Definitions in PPFA source (.src) and
object (.obj) formats. No separate PPFA compiler needed
-
Create AFP
raster and scalable outline fonts from TrueType and
Adobe Type1 fonts
-
Convert
documents from Windows applications into AFP
overlays, images, PDF, PCL and PostScript files
- Visual
PPFA designer reduces development time
– moves development to a non-programming environment
-
Fonts
– create AFP
font components (character sets, code pages, coded fonts) Edit
fonts, individual characters or blend characters together.
Type 1 fonts can be embedded when mapping from a source raster
font.
Type 3 font support for PostScript printers, True Type fonts can
converted to ATM Type 1 or Type 3 fonts for PostScript.

Multi-page TIFF output support.
Convert documents to full page AFP Page Segments (AFP and MO:DCA)
-
Support file names up to 32767 characters (which is the maximum
record length supported in AFP format)
-
Third party file formats
– import Microsoft® files and Adobe® page formats, RTF
support
- Automated
conversions
– configure system to watch for files/events and operate in a
‘lights out’ mode
- Hybrid environment support for AFP and Xerox
– the DesignPro Tools Professional package supplies support for
customers with both AFP and Xerox resources
Forms and Data Layout
Create and edit the overlays, fonts,
images and data layout.Tables can easily be constructed; elements can be grouped and
copied to improve design efficiency. Using Visual PPFA, data can
easily be defined and accurately placed on an overlay and PPFA
PageDefs and FormDefs created. Record format as well as
traditional PageDefs are supported. Designs can be proofed using
sample data.
Existing resources including compiled overlays or OGLs and PSegs can
be opened in their native format and edited. No pre-conversion is
required. After editing, resources can be saved in the desired
format and uploaded to mainframe libraries. No coding is required.
Fonts
Create AFP fonts from scalable TrueType or
Adobe Type1 fonts. Raster fonts can be edited in a visual
interface. Special characters can be added and character widths
can be changed. Fonts can be slimmed, made darker or reversed. Double-byte character sets are supported.
Graphics
Insert standard format graphic files
such as BMP, TIFF, JPEG or PSeg. Clean up and edit bitmap graphics
such as a scanned logo or signature. Industry standard shading
patterns can be applied. Support for color, highlight color,
grayscale and black and white image formats. For faster printing,
graphics can be tiled into a raster font which is especially
useful for signatures.
AFPDS Tree View
Displays the hierarchical structure of AFPDS files and the
binary data contained in the structured field records.
